ROQ.US Tech Tip: How to Repair and Secure Your ROQ Press Foot Pedal Cable

If your ROQ press has seen thousands of production cycles, chances are your foot pedal has too. Over time, constant movement can cause the pedal cable to loosen or even expose the wiring. Fortunately, fixing it is quick, inexpensive, and only requires a few basic tools.
In this tech tip, we'll walk you through how to secure your foot pedal wiring, protect it from future damage, and get back to printing with confidence.
Why This Repair Is Important
The foot pedal is one of the most frequently used components on your press. Every press cycle places stress on the cable entering the pedal housing.
If the cable begins to pull loose, you may notice:
Exposed wiring
Loose or damaged cable insulation
Intermittent pedal operation
Increased wear on electrical connections
A higher risk of cable failure
Taking a few minutes to secure the cable now can help prevent a more costly repair later.
Tools You'll Need
Before you begin, gather the following:
Phillips screwdriver
Zip tie
Scissors or flush cutters
That's it—no specialty tools required.
Step 1: Power Down the Press
Before working on any electrical component, turn off the press completely.
Safety First: Never perform maintenance on an energized machine.
Step 2: Remove the Foot Pedal Cover
Using your screwdriver, remove the four screws securing the top cover of the foot pedal. Lift the cover carefully to expose the internal wiring.
Step 3: Route the Cable Through the U-Bracket
Inside the pedal you'll find a metal U-shaped cable clamp (or bracket).
Feed the black cable through the U-bracket so it is properly supported.
If necessary:
Loosen the bracket screws.
Position the cable correctly.
Retighten the screws securely.
Over time these screws can loosen, so this is a great opportunity to verify everything is tight.
Step 4: Add a Zip Tie for Extra Protection
This is the simple trick that helps prevent future problems.
Place a zip tie around the cable on the inside of the U-bracket.
Tighten it securely, then trim the excess.
The zip tie acts as a secondary stop, preventing the cable from being pulled through the bracket—even if the clamp loosens over time.
Step 5: Reassemble the Foot Pedal
Once the cable is secure:
Replace the pedal cover.
Reinstall the four screws.
Confirm everything is snug.
The wiring should now look neat, organized, and fully protected.
Step 6: Test the Pedal
Return the foot pedal to its operating position.
Turn the press back on and test the pedal to verify it operates normally.
If everything functions correctly, you're ready to get back into production.
