Where do you find happiness? How do you define it?
For Nickal and Luc Regimbal of ColorTex Screen Printing & Embroidery, happiness is both the effort and result of sharing milestone moments with family, friends, and building a community that embraces an adaptive spirit. This is the story of how courage and vision dating back to 1926 continues to shape a near-century-strong legacy—rooted in passion, resilience, and a love–hate relationship with the Great White North.
“What I love about Canada is that love and hate relationship people have with their environment. I think it forces people to find good within bad—and makes people find their happiness in changing environments.” — Nickal, Co-Owner, Colorex Promotions Group
A Legacy Etched in Ink & Intention 🧵
It all began with a bold step taken by Luc Regimbal’s grandfather—a visionary who laid the foundation in 1926. Nearly a century later, this family-founded enterprise has blossomed into a respected printing house and a shining member of the ROQ community.
“My grandfather started the business—you know, having that vision in 1926. Then my uncle Marcel believed in me and Stefan… he even took half the loan to buy the business. Even with someone 22 years old and no experience, he had confidence in us.”— Nickal
That belief paid off. Fueled by entrepreneurial drive and family values, ColorTex grew—press by press, order by order—into a top-tier operation poised to become one of the largest in Canada.
“Now, as we’ve grown so much in the last six, seven years… there’s nothing stopping us from being one of the biggest in Canada.”— Nickal
Printing Through the Seasons 🌨️☀️
Being a Canadian screen printer comes with its own set of advantages—and challenges. The changing climate, for instance, isn’t just a talking point—it’s a business driver.
“Canadians need a lot of different types of clothing because of the four seasons. Clients will order everything from winter jackets to custom beach towels. That means more business for us screen printers.”— Nickal
And as for winter? It may slow the bike riding, but it never slows the hustle.
“The funny thing is, the only reason I hate winter is because I have to store my bike.”
Growth, Grit & Green Machines 🟢
In the past year alone, Colorex has undergone transformative growth—both physically and operationally.
“The last six months have been pretty intense in the shop. We went from just a big warehouse to adding a mezzanine. With all that movement, that’s where Renate and ROQ come into play again.”
With another automatic press and a brand-new ROQ Tunnel arriving in early 2020, the team is leveling up their production power while staying true to their family-first, community-rooted values.
Mission: Meaningful Work 💚
Nickal and Stefan aren’t just building a business—they’re building a beacon for creatives and clients alike who believe in purpose-driven printing.
“Here at Colorex, we love to work with passionate brands and individuals that we believe in.”
At the end of the day, it’s not just about profits—it's about people, perspective, and presence. Wise words from a humble hero in the North.
