Installing the Stampinator on your ROQ press is a fast and straightforward process, but a few details make all the difference in performance and safety. Here's a step-by-step overview for getting up and running with optimal precision and care.
1. Mounting the Stampinator
Roll your cart or table up to the press and carefully slide the Stampinator into the printhead.
Avoid sticky platens during installation—they can obstruct smooth setup and adjustment. If you have sticky platens, throw a blank shirt on it to protect the Stampinator and the platen.
Adjust the heat plate position: it’s initially centered or toward the back of the platen, so reposition it to the front for better press contact, then lock the knobs down and tuck them away to avoid snags during operation.
2. Centering and Securing
Before clamping the unit, visually confirm it’s centered on the platen by checking underneath.
If the Teflon sheet is loose, tighten it—snug, but not overly tight to avoid damage.
Lock the unit in place and power it up.
3. Power Requirements
The Stampinator is available in both 110V and 220V models.
The 110V version plugs into standard circuits (ideal for flexibility); however, use a 20-amp circuit and a 20-amp power cord with a sideways-facing male plug for safety and compliance.
The 220V model is preferred for ROQ installations and should be hard-wired into the press.
For permanent setups, have an electrician install a dedicated drop. Most jurisdictions require this by code.
4. Cable Management
Use zip ties or Velcro ties to secure the power cord away from moving parts, particularly the rotating platen.
Attach the cord near the front of the press frame to prevent it from catching or getting pulled by motion.
5. Heat Protection & Prep
If installing a hot unit, place a scrap hoodie or shirt on the platen to protect the Teflon and adhesive from direct contact with glue or tack.
6. Positioning and Calibration
Load the Stampinator into the desired head (e.g., Head 2 or Head 7 if reversing print cycle).
Set your limiter to block forward movement—this prevents accidental damage.
Use adjustable ties (not zip ties) to secure anything temporary—making removal easy and reducing the risk of damage if something falls.
7. Off-Contact and Timing Setup
Start with an off-contact of 1mm—especially when pressing thicker materials like fleece.
Calibrate by observing the spring tension—ideally, it should just slightly compress.
Begin with a press time of 3–4 seconds on an open printhead. Use your stopwatch to time from press-down to return.
Fine-tune press speed and squeegee delay until you reach consistent, clean application results.
The new Stahls Hotronix Stampinator color scheme is designed to match ROQ presses beautifully, blending function and form. Whether you're using it for transfer application, underbase curing, or fiber matting, this add-on integrates seamlessly with the ROQ system.
