WomenROQ ROQtail Hour with ROQ.US celebrating Women in Screen Printing

WomenROQ: The Brave Community that Could

#WomenROQ has been cutting its chops through one hell of a year. This group has witnessed women rise to the occasion, roll up our sleeves, and get down to the business of reimagining our place in the industry and in the world, cheering each other on along the way. The same way Tillie, the Little Engine from Watty Piper’s story, never gave up, this group and its members bravely keep moving, knowing that we can, we have, and we will do what it takes to get the job done.  Women across the nation have gained a foothold as leaders in screen printing and are primed to show the world more of what we’re made of, what matters. We are excited to continue inspiring and supporting each other through our WomenROQ page on Facebook, at our virtual events, and the plans we are incubating.

My favorite thing so far about being part of the WomenROQ group and digital events has been watching each of us overcome challenges with nothing to prove to anyone but ourselves. Just some women and some nonbinary folks (and a couple of dudes) applying hard work, big brains, and loads of creativity. It’s that ‘I think I can’ optimism coupled with hard work in the face of difficult circumstances that I find so inspirational. There’s plenty of innovation already emerging as a result of the collective pivot we were all subjected to last year. I know I’ve already dug my heels in to grow professionally and personally. I’m not alone, and every milestone is another chance to look back and say ‘I thought I could!’.

I think most of us are ready to wash our hands of 2020 and get to the business of making this year one for the books on our own terms. We each may have had to bury some plans or set them aside for another time, but there are still celebrations to be had, work to be done, and community to keep building - h[er]story will be made! If you are a woman or a person who supports women in decorated apparel work, you are an important part of our movement to celebrate and elevate women in the ranks of the screen printing world. Together we will forge new and exciting paths (keep checking in to find out what fun we hatch).

Our next event is slated for 1/21/21, 3:30 PST, and lucky you - it’s virtual! Join us in celebrating the creative moves made, the risks taken, the lessons chalked up, and the victories garnered. Most of all, let’s look to the bright future we will fashion. I dare you to dress for the occasion, bring your favorite cocktail or mocktail, and ring in the next chapter of these new ‘20’s!
